SmartStrip Energy Saving Power Strip Testimonials
Read what professionals are saying about the energy saving SmartStrip.
From PC World: "Brainy Power Strip"
"Bits Limited's $30 Smart Strip includes a sensor that detects variances in electrical flow: When you turn off your system, it suspends power to all PC peripherals connected to the handful of clearly marked jacks, making shutdown fast and easy."
From On Computers:
"...what it does is turn off your peripherals automatically when you shut down the computer...For a business with many people walking away from their computers it probably adds up to quite a bit of money on the power bill...It could also be used with shop equipment, heaters, etc."
From Retro Blast:
"It seems like an excellent product that does exactly what I wanted – power on a few (up to 5) peripherals after the PC is powered on and it will then shut them off after the PC is shut down..."Overall, if you’re looking for a power strip that will turn on/off peripheral devices (lights, speakers, etc) based on your PC’s power state then this is a great buy."
This auto-switching power strip actually works even better than the @Power strip, which I had previously used in the MAME frame. The @Power strip had a 3-4 second delay between turning the computer on/off and the rest of the outlets activating. The Smart Strip has no noticable delay — push the power button on the computer, and everything turns on immediately.
From Dealtime.com
"I have a wide screen TV, a VCR, a DVD, an HDTV and satellite receiver, a stereo preamplifier, a stereo amplifier, and a 100-disc CD player. When the whole system was powered off, it was still using about as much power as my refrigerator to be ready for a 'warm start'. Consequently, I added a Smart Strip Power Strip from Bits Limited to avoid a horrendous power bill."
From Hometheater.com
"The strip is one of the most well thought out ones I've seen. It has 10 outlets altogether, 1 controlling, 3 other hot, 6 switched. 1 of the hot outlets and 3 of the switched ones are spaced for transformer plugs, so your really get 10 usable outlets."I decided to plug in my receiver as the control, my DVD player hot, and my TV, subwoofer and small backlight as switched. Initially the control didn't power off anything, but making a small adjustment to the sensitivity of the trimmer did the trick. The power on/power off levels differ by 20%, so that you can't get a 'cycle' of powering on and off going by setting the trimmer right at the threshold.
"I'm pretty darn pleased with the result. Now my subwoofer that I was always leaving on gets shut off, and I don't have to crawl behind my TV to turn on my theater back light.
"It can handle up to 15 amps, has the usual lightning strike protection, and even has some line noise protection. It has a $30,000 equipment meltdown warranty as well.
"Frankly I think the convenience and power savings make this a great deal. Especially since the strip is only $30. Compare that to any Monster strip, even the ones that don't have noise suppression circuits."
